Kids are remarkable. This blogsite was started to chronicle an after school class I designed with the help of Citizen Schools, where middle school students in Hyde Park, MA did and inspired acts of kindnesses. Since then, the blog comments on other "kindnesses" and reviews another Citizen's class I have created where students learn about journalism by interviewing everyday heroes. I hope you are inspired by what you read to do something good for someone and write about it.
I work for Citizen Schools in California and have been so inspired by the amazing work you're doing in Boston, especially the recent Kindness Bags you handed out at South Station. What an amazing way to make a stranger's day and to encourage people to pay it forward.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, you inspired me recently to help out a neighbor. I live in Oakland and there are people constantly asking for money on the street. Recently, though, someone outside of the grocery store asked me to help out by buying him some dinner. At first I passed him, but then I remembered you all and all that you're doing, and decided to stop. I asked him what he wanted to eat and went inside to get him some meatloaf and vegetables. I think he was surprised, and I felt great at having done a small thing to help someone out.
Thanks to you apprentices who are doing such wonderful work, and to your CT for Jeff for helping you. Keep it up - you're amazing!
