Someone else will help, right?

The last post on this blog made me think of another reason why people - including myself - sometimes don't help others. We're hoping that if we wait long enough, surely someone else will step up and lend a hand. That showing kindness to strangers isn't "our" problem.

I'm going to start trying to overcome this in a small way, by being the first to happily offer my seat on the subway to someone who may need it more than me. It's an easy way to bring a smile to someone's face (and some relief to their feet, too). :-)
